Last year, the Centre for Genetic Resources, the Netherlands, existed for 25 years, reason enough to ask some questions about ourselves. This has taken the form of a booklet, of which you will find here a pdf version. The booklet describes where CGN comes from, and where we think it is heading to. It is also an attempt to place our Centre in a political, socio-economic and scientific context, both in the Netherlands and globally.
We hope the booklet makes enjoyable reading. It is not a pamphlet, nor a scientific report. It is meant to offer analysis, but in an easily accessible form.
Let it suffice to say that our Centre exists because the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation has supported us over these 25 years. We are thankful for that support that allowed us to provide the Dutch contribution to the conservation and utilization of genetic resources.
